This painting received the People's Choice Award at the Bigfork Art & Cultural Center Holiday Member 2001 Show. "Wallenda" was selected from more than 100 works for the award. The People's Choice Award is voted on by visitors to the 6-week-long gallery showcase of BACC members' works and is the only award given during the show.

The subject is a quarter horse owned by C.J. Mohl of the K Lazy S in Texas. Wallenda won the 2000 Suncoast $10,000 Amateur Cutting Horse Competition in Las Vegas.
